Rassismus und Raum bedingen sich gegenseitig. (Neo-)Rassismus bedient sich raumtheoretischer Konzeptionen, um sich selbst zu konstituieren und zu legitimieren. Carolin Mehnert greift diese bisher kaum beachtete Korrelation auf, um ein relationales und reziprokes Raumverständnis als anti-rassistische Denk-, Sprech- und Handlungsweise gegen eine absolutistische Containerraum-Vorstellung produktiv zu machen. Moving Places draws together contributions from Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa, exploring practices and experiences of movement, non-movement, and place-making. The book centers on “moving places”: places with locations that are not fixed but relative. Von den Anschlägen des 11. September 2001 bis zur Sarrazin-Debatte: Dass deutsche Musliminnen und Muslime derzeit mit einem negativen Image konfrontiert werden, ist evident. Wie jedoch wirken sich diese negativen Stereotype auf das Alltagsleben und die Identitätskonstruktionen der Betroffenen aus? Am Beispiel deutsch-marokkanischer Interviewpartner_innen weist Maike Didero nach, dass divergierende Reaktionen auf das deutsche Islambild durch unterschiedliche translokale Positionierungen erklärt werden können.
